Longtime North Andover assistant coach Andy Van Horn has been named the new boys lacrosse head coach at Haverhill High.
Van Horn had been a coach at North Andover High School for more than 10 years. He served as the varsity lacrosse assistant coach in 2012, JV coach from 2003-05 and freshman coach from 2005-08.
He also was an assistant football coach with the Knights from 2003-13 and has worked as a speed and strength coach for the Scarlet Knights athletic program. He developed and coordinated a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for 12 different sports there.
Haverhill posted a 5-11 record last year after going 13-6 in 2012. Haverhill’s 13 victories in 2012 is the most in the 10-year history of the program.
Van Horn will be the Hillies’ fourth coach in three years. Mike Bergstrom led the program last year and Andrew Kirkalby coached in 2012.
Before Kirkalby, Bryan Brazill served as coach for four years, going 29-41.
