Georgetown falls to surging Lynnfield

LYNNFIELD — Taking on a red-hot league opponent, Georgetown fell to Lynnfield 35-0 yesterday afternoon.

The loss dropped Georgetown to 1-8 and 0-3 in CAL/NEC Division 4 play.

The Pioneers, winners of five straight, took control quickly with three touchdowns in the first quarter.

The victory for Lynnfield was of great interest to Thanksgiving Day foe North Reading. Both teams now sit at 3-0 in the conference, and with the Hornets (7-1) taking on struggling Ipswich and Lynnfield (6-2) facing scuffling Manchester Essex next week, they appear on track to meet on Thanksgiving Day with a league title and a playoff berth on the line.
