NORTH ANDOVER — It was a clean sweep for Stonehill last night against Merrimack. The women rolled to a 68-47 win then the men’s team posted a 76-64 victory.
The Chieftains (7-13, 4-11 NE-10) were led by Carter Smith and Pierce Cumpstone, who both scored 17 points. Cumpstone also added 12 rebounds in a superb 24 minutes of play off the bench.
Kevin Regan led the Warriors (8-13, 6-10 NE-10) with 17 points. Troy Hammel (13 points) and Gelvis Solano (12 points) combined for 25 points but on a combined 9-of-29 shooting. J.T. Strickland dished out a game-high seven assists.
The Warriors are off until Tuesday when they play at Bentley.
Tori Faieta was too much for the Merrimack women. She had a game-high 14 points (6-of-11 shooting), a career-high 17 rebounds and 4 blocks as the visiting Chieftains improved to 14-5 and 11-4 in the NE-10.
Michelle Obach scored a team-high 11 points in 18 minutes off the bench for the Warriors (10-10, 6-9 NE-10). Madison Ward, another sub, scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
The Warriors host Southern New Hampshire Saturday at 2 p.m.
