Feb. 16: Nina Whittaker (3rd all-around) and Kadianne Tommasi (6th all-around) led Salem to the state gymnastics title.

Feb. 16: Chris Ferri’s win at 182 clinched Windham’s second straight Division 3 state wrestling title.

Feb. 16: Timberlane rolled to its 14th straight Division 1 state wrestling title.

Feb. 16: Colby Gilbert, who gave up eight goals the last time the two teams met, stopped 43 shots as Andover blanked Central Catholic.

Feb. 16: Amanda Conway of Methuen scored seven goals in Tewksbury-Methuen’s 9-4 win over Waltham.

Feb. 17: Central Catholic roared back from a 21-point third-quarter deficit but St. John’s Prep won when Drex Costello of North Andover snapped the tie with a 3-pointer with 6.5 seconds left.

Feb. 18: North Andover’s Morgan Lumb and Pentucket’s Coley Viselli surpassed 1,000 career points.

Feb. 18: Samnell Vonleh was credited with 14 points, 18 rebounds and 21 blocks as Whittier whipped Dracut 72-46.

Feb. 19: Londonderry girls blasted Timberlane, 77-24, giving coach John Fagula his 600th career win.

Feb. 19: An ugly brawl, fueled by Tweeting, involving 200 fans broke out after the Methuen at Haverhill boys basketball game. Seven were arrested.

Feb. 20: Central Catholic lost to Lowell, enabling North Andover to tie Central for the MVC Division 1 boys basketball title.

Feb. 20: Sparked by a big win by Danielle Coughlin at 106, North Andover came back to capture the Division 2 state title. Coughlin became the first girl to win a state wrestling title.

Feb. 23: Methuen’s Mike O’Donnell won the All-State mile in 4:15.81 and Haverhill’s Alex Mayhew took second in the 55 meters in 6.58, smashing a 23-year-old school record.

Feb. 23: Methuen teammates Paul Sughrue and Christian Monserrat (lower weights MVP) and St. John’s Ian Butterbrodt of North Andover and Corey Jean-Jacques of Haverhill won All-State wrestling titles.

Feb. 23: Timberlane won its eighth straight Meet of Champions wrestling title behind champions Adam Corey, Tyler Fitzpatrick, Josh Burnham, Josh Riley and Harry Denoncourt.
