Final Score

Owls win first

Timberlane’s hockey team won its first game of the season, 5-3 over Winnacunnet as James Perry had two goals and an assist and Brian Roberts added two goals. Aaron Smith had 27 saves.

So close

North Andover girls track came so, so close to victory at the MSTCA Division II Relays yesterday, finishing in second to Marshfield by just a single point.

North Andover’s Mikayla Guthrie, Deven Fortelli, Mary Lavery and Jenna Smolag combined to win the 4x400 (4:06.74).

The Scarlet Knights trio of Katie McManus, Alexandra Layne and Catherine Flaherty won the shot put relay (95-5.25).

Marshfield scored 42 points. North Andover finished with 41. Woburn and Beverly tied for third with 38 points. Central Catholic came in fifth (34.5).

Brooks wins, again

Nobles only has two losses in boys basketball this year and both are to Brooks. What’s more, yesterday’s 44-31 victory for Brooks (8-1) was far more decisive. Charlie Crockett led the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Akenna Ndugba had nine assists for Brooks which, in an extreme rarity, made no 3-pointers.

Look out, A Team

North Andover boy’s B Team won the high jump relay at the MSTCA Div. II Relays yesterday while the Scarlet Knights A Team finished second.

Owen Jordan, Anthony Christian and Xavier Laguerre combined to jump 17-0 in victory. North Andover’s A Team of Wynn Bourassa, Joe Staudt and Patrick Wolfgang combined to jump 16-7.25.

Jordan (6-1) and Christian (5-10) each jumped their personal best. Jordan’s leap beat his personal best by five feet.

Both had been unable to make the varsity lineup with Bourassa, Staudt and Wolfgang all jumping better so far this season. ... That was until yesterday.

North Andover (44 points) finished second in the 20-team meet. Woburn won (47). Marshfield came in third (43), Reading fourth (42) and Central Catholic fifth (32).

More Conway

High-scoring Amanda Conway scored five goals in a 6-4 victory over Concord-Carlisle, helping to keep the Methuen/Tewksbury hockey team undefeated at 7-0.

Senior power

Seniors Mike Donlan, Curtis Harper and Erc Coburn combined for six goals and five assists as Londonderry (8-3) defeated Bishop Guertin 7-5. Donlan recorded his first hat trick.
