Cannata in Canucks plans

Merrimack College grad Joe Cannata is apparently in the immediate plans for the Vancouver Canucks.

Word is that the Canucks will try to deal goalie Roberto Luongo, quite possibly to Toronto, opening the door for Cannata to join the parent club next season.

Cannata, who was 6-6 with a 2.65 goals against average with their AHL affiliate in Chicago (Wolves), was called up just before the NHL playoffs started.

Bring socks to Sox

This weekend, as part of the Red Sox Foundation, the team will be collecting new, white athletic socks to benefit the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, which provides medical care to Boston’s homeless men, women, and children.

Volunteers will collect the socks at each Fenway Park gate before and during the games today and tomorrow (both games at 1:35 p.m.).

Doctors and nurses from BHCHP will distribute the socks to patients they care for on the streets, park benches, and in shelters across Greater Boston.
