---- — Bridgewater State senior Josh Danner-Hicks of Haverhill placed sixth in the triple jump yesterday at the NCAA Division 3 Championships. His top effort, 47-2.5, came on his fourth jump of the day.
Merrimack freshman Carly Muscaro of Ashland placed 10th yesterday in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division 2 Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. Muscaro, who was the first individual to compete at NCAAs in the four-year history of the program, ran a 56.87.
Trailing 1-0, Molloy scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth en route to a 3-2 win over Merrimack in Cary, N.C. The Warriors left two runners on base in the ninth. Cam DiSarcina had two hits and two RBIs for Merrimack and Joe Carnevale pitched six innings of two-hit, no-run ball.
Merrimack rebounded to beat Caldwell 10-2.
Merrimack lacrosse improved to 3-1 with a 10-5 win over St. Michael’s. Tucker Schwarz had the hat trick and Max Allen scored twice. Dom Madonna and Morgan Green combined to turn aside 10 Purple Knight shots. Andrew Walsh of Derry won 11 of 20 faceoffs.
No. 2 Adelphi drubbed the women’s team 21-3. Shealyn Anthony, Aubrie Stouffer and Michela Salvucci scored for Merrimack (1-4).
NELSEN, CALZETTA SHINE
Freshman Isaiah Nelsen of North Andover contributed 6 points, 3 rebounds and a steal in 15 productive minutes off the bench and St. Anselm downed Le Moyne, 73-62, in first round NCAA Division 2 action.
Mike Calzetta of Lawrence fired a complete-game (7 innings) 4-hitter with four strikeouts as UMass Lowell beat defending league champion Binghamton 4-2 as part of a doubleheader sweep.
In Clermont, Fla., the Merrimack softball team beat Alderson Broaddus 3-2 in eight innings then lost to West Chester 6-4. The Warriors are now 1-6. Against Alderson Broaddus, Haley Currie (6 strikeouts) was the winning pitcher and singled in Ashley Perry for the winning run.
