BOSTON — Alexis Santos made it 13-0 with his 11th career knockout, stopping Sylvester Barron in the fifth round of their six-round fight last night at the House of Blues.
Lawrence’s Santos, who had dominated the fight until the stoppage at 2:08 of the fifth, simply kept coming at Barron all through the fight, finally breaking through with the winning combination.
Santos, about 12 pounds lighter than the 230-pound Barron, attacked from the opening bell as the taller foe chose to lean and clinch.
Entering the fifth round, computer punch stats had Santos landing twice as many shots (68-32).
Space was a problem as the bigger man kept Santos bottled up — that is until the fifth.
Santos fought on national TV for the first time last night as the bout was televised on Fox Sports 1.
