---- — North Reading senior C.J. McCarthy broke the 1,000-yard barrier, and he did it the loud way, running a dozen times for 158 yards and four touchdowns before retiring for the night at halftime as the Hornets strolled over Winthrop in a Division 4, non-playoff matchup, 42-6. McCarthy now has 176 carries for 1,155 yards on the year for 4-4 North Reading. The Hornets rolled it up on the ground with 24 carries for 295 yards with the first teamers in the first half. Overall, it was 47 for 441. Blake Tamlyn-Hayden chipped in a 46-yard TD run in his 89-yard night.
