Brooks rally falls short in season finale

NORTH ANDOVER — A determined fourth quarter rally fell short yesterday as Brooks ended its season with a 28-22 loss to Lawrence Academy.

Lawrence Academy (4-4) led 28-8 entering the fourth quarter but Chris Cervizzi scored on a seven-yard run and ran in for two conversion points and Andrew Konovalchik, who ran hard the entire second half, scored on an 11-yard run to cut the gap. But time ran out for the Green and White, who finished with a 3-5 record.

Brooks scored its first touchdown in the second quarter when Haverhill’s Coy Candelario caught a 41-yard pass from Konovalchik.

“I thought our kids did a great job playing all 48 minutes of the game,” said Brooks coach Pat Foley. “We didn’t give in when things were not really going our way.

“I’m really proud of the way our kids fought throughout the season.”
