TRENTON, N.J. — Deck McGuire pitched 5.1 strong innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Trenton Thunder 7-3 last night.
With two on and two out in the third, A.J. Jimenez laced a double down the right field line to put the Fisher Cats up 2-0.
An inning later they tacked on three more runs. Brad Glenn doubled to begin the inning and was followed by a single and a walk to load the bases. Mike Crouse plated a run on a sacrifice fly. Jon Berti followed with a single to center, plating two more runs to extend the lead to 5-0.
McGuire went through the first five innings without allowing a runner to reach second base.
The Fisher Cats (2-0) and Trenton play here today at 5 p.m. The Fisher Cats will open the home portion of the schedule on Thursday against Binghamton at 6:35 p.m.
