Big game alert!
Brooks girls soccer (8-0) plays at Phillips (3-4) today.
The game will feature two of the more talented players in the area as Brooks forward Sarah Bresette of Andover goes against Phillips back Piper Curtis of Andover.
Curtis has committed to play at Dartmouth while Bresette has committed to Bucknell.
“We’ve been looking forward to this game,” Bresette said. “I actually used to play on the same club team (Shooting Stars). So it’s going to be a really, really good game. I think it’s going to be really intense and one of our most challenging games this year.”
Other big games
Brooks and Phillips isn’t the only big game today. Here are some others:
Pinkerton girls soccer (9-2-1) at Bedford (8-3-1).

Machado vs. his idol
Baltimore Orioles 20-year-old phenom third baseman Manny Machado’s favorite player growing up was Alex Rodriguez.
He has enjoyed watching A-Rod since the Yankees third baseman played for the Seattle Mariners.
Some people around baseball have compared Machado’s skills to Rodriguez’s.
“I don’t compare myself to anyone but my favorite player was A-Rod,” Machado told The Eagle-Tribune.
When Rodriguez made his major league debut July 8, 1994 at age 18, Machado was just 2 years and 2 days old.
Rodriguez and Machado are going head to head in the American League Division Series.
Game 3 of the series is today at 7:37 p.m. in New York.
The Eagle-Tribune spoke with pitcher Ryan Dempster not long after he was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Texas Rangers at the trade deadline.
The saying goes that when a pitcher goes from the National League to the American League, expect his ERA to increase by a run.
Dempster didn’t believe that.
