Final score

Wildcat hat trick

Whittier’s Anthony Licciardello scored a hat trick as Amesbury/Whittier boys hockey blasted Minuteman 8-0.

Landmark day for Knights

Freshman Tyler Rogers and sophomore Nick DiDuca each scored their first varsity goal as North Andover boys hockey exploded for four goals in the third period in a 4-1 victory over Westford Academy.

Soucy’s score enough

Cody Soucy’s second-period tally was enough to give Salem a 1-0 win over archrival Pinkerton.

Morton nets career high

Junior forward Jackson Morton, a three-year starter, scored a career-high 33 points, including hitting five 3-pointers, but Sanborn boys basketball lost 70-64 to Prospect Mountain.

Another double-double

Londonderry’s Aliza Simpson seems to record a double-double every game. Yesterday, she poured in 17 points and added 16 assists to lead the Lancers girls basketball team 78-42 over Merrimack.

Sachems impress again

Pentucket’s girls basketball team used its defense to remain unbeaten and defeat a good team in the process, whipping previously unbeaten Billerica, which had been ranked in the top five in Eastern Mass. by a 59-39 margin. Kelsi McNamara led three players in double figures with 15 points and the Sachems (6-0) drilled eight 3-pointers, but the key was the defense, which held UMass Lowell-bound point guard Brittany Lomanno scoreless in the second half.

Hornets hold on

Senior forward Dan Fitzgerald scored 16 points and added eight rebounds as North Reading boys basketball held on 44-41 after heading into the fourth quarter with a five-point advantage in a huge Cape Ann League clash.

Whittier loses in final seconds

Chelsea scored a layup with 6.7 seconds remaining to win 49-48 over Whittier boys basketball.

Wildcats senior guard Ryan Grant missed a shot in the final seconds. Nate Frongillo collected the rebound but missed on his putback attempt.

Astros on roll

Pinkerton’s girls basketball continued to play well, showing good balance while stifling Trinity 52-30. Val Martin led the Astros (7-1) with 13 points.

Last-second win

Becca DeBaldo poured in 22 points, including netting a layup with 1 second left to lift Pelham girls basketball 45-43 over ConVal.

Riley rolling

Sophomore guard Kayla Riley finished with 15 points and four blocks as Whittier girls basketball won 60-48 over Notre Dame to improve to 5-1.
