VIENNEAU SETS MARK AT SUFFOLK

Central Catholic alum Jacqueline Vienneau continues her amazing assault on the womens basketball record book at Suffolk University.

Most recently, in a win over Norwich University, Vienneau, of Salem, N.H., recorded four assists, making it 398 for her career to take over as Suffolk’s all-time leader.

Earlier in the year, Vienneau topped the 1,000-point scoring mark for the Rams. With 20 points against Norwich, Vienneau now has 1,094 points, good for 10th on Suffolk’s all-time list.

With 471 career rebounds to date, Vienneau is on pace to become the first Suffolk woman to join the 1,000-point, 500-rebound, 300-assist club.

BEAUCHESNE HOSTING CLINIC IN PELHAM

The chill in the air is masking it, but baseball season is around the corner, and Pelham High varsity coach Bill Beauchesne hopes he can help all the “Junior Pythons” get ready for the upcoming season.

Beauchesne will host his Flashing Leather Baseball Clinics on four Sundays, beginning Feb. 24, from 10 a.m.-12 noon at Pelham High School. Players can attend one or all four of the Sunday sessions. For more information, contact coach Beauchesne at 603-475-7532.

CLASSIC MIDDLE SCHOOL TITLE GAME TOMORROW

A great one on the boys side is set for tomorrow at Haverhill High School when the Whittier Middle School faces off with the Consentino Middle School for the Haverhill City Championship.

The event opens at 11 a.m. with a cheerleading exhibition. In the girls title game at noon, it will be Hunking Middle School vs. Nettle Middle School. The boys take center stage at 1 p.m., with big man Matt Connolly leading Whittier into battle, while the dynamic backcourt of Avery Cerow, Scotty Tavares and Navin Cruz make Consentino the team to beat.

SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL

MVC boys hoop fans can’t forget that Saturday night at 7 p.m., Hampshire Street in Lawrence is the place to be as Andover High challenges Central Catholic on the Raiders’ home court. Central is the top team in everybody’s poll, while the Warriors, who lost by only two when these teams met in the Christmas Tournament, are just one game behind in the Merrimack Valley Conference race.
