Farnham to Endicott

Andover High multi-sport Eagle-Tribune All-Star Cam Farnham has made his college choice, and will be playing football and baseball at Endicott College.

“Cam is really thrilled,” said Andover football coach E.J. Perry. “He felt like he could play Division 2 baseball or football, but Endicott offered the chance to play both. The way he can catch and with his speed, we feel like he could be a Division 3 All-American one day.”

At just 5-foot-6 and 141 pounds, Farnham was an Eagle-Tribune football All-Star in the fall, leading the area with 11 TD catches. He caught 35 passes for 548 yards on the season. He was also an Eagle-Tribune All-Star in baseball last spring, hitting .458. He is currently the Golden Warrior’s leader in the 55-meter dash in indoor track.

Farnham, of course, is a member of the legendary Farnham athletic family, and plans to continue wearing his family’s trademark No. 46, which was recently retired by Andover High football.

Licare, Parent honored

at UMass Lowell

Two of the area’s all-time greatest basketball players (and teammates) will be among those honored today at UMass Lowell.

Central Catholic legends Bobby Licare of North Andover and Leo Parent of Lowell will be honored at halftime of today’s UMass Lowell-Assumption College game (4 p.m. start).

Licare and Parent, who were teammates at both Central Catholic and UMass Lowell, will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their national championship win with the then-Chiefs in 1988.

Their former coach, Don Doucette, the current athletic director at Andover High, will also be there for the festivities.

Ice, not blood

While they may share a last name, and quite a bit of hockey talent, Central Catholic goalie Colin Soucy — who was featured in yesterday’s Eagle-Tribune — and Salem winger Cody Soucy are not related.
