Merrimack women snap 6-game losing streak

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Merrimack women snapped a six-game losing streak with a 73-48 laugher over St. Anselm.

Kelly Schatzlein paced the Warriors (12-10, 8-10 NE-10) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jaclyn Lyons added 13 points on 3-for-5 shooting from behind the arc and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Allison Wagner and Ashley Weissmann combined for 16 points off the bench.

For St. Anselm (4-18, 1-17 NE-10), former Pentucket star Ashley Viselli grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go along with eight points.

St. A’s holds off Warriors

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Merrimack trailed by just two points after a dunk by Mike Clifford with 4:06 to play but No. 10 St. Anselm pulled away for a 94-83 win.

Gelvis Solano tied for game scoring honors with 23 points and Clifford added 20 in just 24 minutes before fouling out. Tyler Young scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Roy Mabrey had 23 points to lead St. Anselm (18-3, 15-3 NE-10), which shot 12 of 24 on 3-pointers while Merrimack was just 3 of 16. St. A’s also had a huge edge at the charity stripe, hitting 26 of 34 to Merrimack’s 12 of 15.

Merrimack (9-14, 6-12 NE-10) hosts UMass Lowell Saturday at 3 p.m. The women’s game is at 1 p.m.
