Many Andover players grew up attending Andover girls games and many had favorite players. All five starters and the top three bench players had favorite players:
Natalie Gomez-Martinez
Began attending Andover games when? About fifth grade.
Favorite player growing up? Maggie Cosgrove ('07) — "I play point guard, she played point guard and I definitely can say that I looked up to her."
Fast fact: Gomez-Martinez was a ballgirl when Cosgrove was at Andover. "That was like the best time of my life."
Nicole Boudreau
Began attending Andover games when? About third grade
Favorite player growing up? Merry Fish ('03) — "I thought it was the coolest thing that she could just go out there and bomb away (with 3-pointers)."
Fast fact: She made her own Merry Fish shirt to wear to games. Boudreau also was a water girl for the boys team.
Ally Fazio
Began attending Andover games when? Was there for the '03 title run in third grade.
Favorite player growing up? Sam Hughes ('03) — "She wasn't always the best player on the court but she gave it her all, all the time."
Fast fact: Ally's dad David Fazio coaches the Andover boys. So Ally and Nicole Boudreau used to be water girls for the boys team. "We went to all the games and we were screaming at every shot. We were crazy fans of the boys and then we just kind of went to all the girls games, too."
Alex Alois
Began attending Andover games when? About fifth grade.
Favorite player growing up? Ashley McLaughlin ('04) — "She was just a big girl who could do everything. She could shoot. She could dribble."
Fast fact: Alois and her family moved to Andover from New Jersey when Alois was in third grade. "I've always loved basketball and so has my family. We heard about them being a good team and started going to the high school games. I looked up to those girls so much."
Dianna Bill
Began attending Andover games when? Didn't attend the games.
Favorite player growing up? Maggie Cosgrove ('07), Meghan Thomann ('08)
Fast fact: Didn't start playing basketball until eighth grade because she was into competitive skiing.
Devon Caveney
Began attending Andover games when? When Jenny Muller played.
Favorite player growing up? Jenny Muller ('03) — "She was the first player I actually knew and liked to watch at Andover."
Fast fact: Caveney wanted to be just like Muller. "I wanted all her moves. I wanted to play exactly like her."
Alicia Scarpa
Began attending Andover games when? 4 or 5 years old.
Favorite player growing up? Jackie Powers ('05) — "Just the way she played, she was very aggressive. I just loved watching her."
Fast fact: Her favorite memory was Sam Hughes hitting the game winning shot in the 2003 state title game. "I remember going absolutely nuts. I couldn't believe it. It was just a perfect ending."
Cassandra Drivas
Began attending Andover games when? About fifth grade.
Favorite player growing up? Her neighbor Sam Hughes ('03) — "I saw her work hard and she was always there for me."
Fast Fact: Drivas would wear Andover attire and also bows in her hair every game. "I always thought they were like the coolest people ever."
