Trailing 12-10 at halftime, Yale made two big plays which keyed the turnaround in the Hillies’ 26-12 victory. On a third-and-6, he hauled in a 36-yard strike from Shane Finn, leading to the go-ahead touchdown. He then drove a booming kickoff that pinned Lawrence on its own 3-yard line. That led to Haverhill’s final TD.
North Andover Senior
The talented receiver was a bright spot in the loss to Tewksbury, hauling in four passes for 129 yards, including a 41-yard scoring toss from Casey Walsh and a 55-yarder that set up North Andover’s final touchdown. He also played sound defense and recovered a fumble.
Johnny on the spot
The game was still very much in question at 14-0. The Raiders punted the ball away after a 3-and-out on the final play of the third quarter, when Mendonca flew down the field and pounced on a loose ball for a fumble recovery. Three plays later, Mike Milano hit Cody Demers on the touchdown pass to give the Raiders a firm hold on the contest.
The Lancers led at halftime 12-10 thanks largely to a big play by Cirspin. On first and 15, the receiver took a short pass over the middle, broke what looked like a sure tackle and sprinted into the end zone for a 32-yard scoring play. That gave Lawrence a 12-10 lead at the intermission. He also had an 11-yard reception for a first down.
