Countdown to kickoff

COLBY OUT, BJORK IN

With QB Colby Ingraham suffering a season-ending ACL injury last week, it sent Georgetown (0-3) into scramble mode.

The Royals will move the big fella, tight end Pat Bjork, to behind center. Bjork is confident the Royals will respond to the adversity tonight at 0-3 Ipswich.

“We’ve come together. One guy goes down, another has to step up,” said the senior Bjork. “This one is huge for us.”

COASTAL COLLISION

Is there a bigger game up in these parts this week than Pentucket at Newburyport on Friday night?

Talk about playoff implications. It’s almost a survival game in the CAL, especially if Masconomet is what many expect in Division 3.

The Sachems and Clippers have split the last six collisions but Newburyport has run off three wins in a row.

Pentucket went to the well last week and KO’d rival Triton, which to that point was the surprise of the season.

RANGERS-HILLIES

In the Valley game of the night, we bring you Methuen hosting Haverhill at 7 tonight.

The teams appear very similar.

Both have QBs who can throw it. Both have dangerous running backs. Neither has been spectacular defensively but has in a “Patriots” fashion found a way to make the key stops.

Watch the game-breakers in the kicking game here -- Tommy Maguire for the Hillies and Ruddy Severino for Methuen.

Interesting to note, this is Methuen’s first Friday night home game of the young campaign. Last Saturday’s crowd was disappointing for the now 4-0 Rangers. We’ll see tonight how this group is supported in a huge collision.

RESILIENCE IN ANDOVER?

Consider Andover pretty much playing for its playoff life tonight at home against Chelmsford. How do the Warriors rebound after a physical loss to Central Catholic?

“We’re excited for this opportunity, and we’re ready,” said coach E.J. Perry. “If we win, it puts us in a very good position. We’ll put ourselves in a tough position if we don’t get the victory.”

DON’T FORGET

Pinkerton Academy at Memorial was bumped up to 4 p.m. today in the Queen City.
