Salem rallies

Amanda Bickford scored team-highs in kills (19), service points (18), aces (7) and digs (25) as Salem won a key matchup over Spaulding 24-26, 25-20, 24-26, 25-16, 15-11. The Blue Devils improved to 9-3 and Spaulding fell to 8-4.

Waldie, Doyle shine

The Merrimack College field hockey team (7-4) dominated-ninth-ranked Bentley University 3-0 as North Andover’s Candace Waldie had three assists and Merrimac’s Maura Doyle had a goal and two assists.

Rhodes clutch

Lawrence’s Delia Rhodes took a pass from Bioribel Castillo and scored with four minutes left in the game to give the Lancers a 1-1 field hockey tie with Haverhill.

Lots of Buckley

Sophomore Jess Buckley had 14 kills, four blocks and 22 digs as the Timberlane volleyball team outlasted Exeter in five games, winning the finale 18-16.

Sister act

Jessica Leone scored one goal and younger sister Jacquelyn Leone added another score as Andover beat Methuen 3-0 in field hockey.

Showdown next

Greater Lawrence’s boys cross country team remained unbeaten (8-0), whipping Shawsheen 21-35 to set up a showdown next week against Greater Lowell. Yosvaldy Tejeda remained unbeaten individually and Miguel Cumba took second.

High 5

Justine Levesque and Courtney Sweeny each scored twice and Kelsey Federico (3 saves) earned the shutout as Windham field hockey blitzed Portsmouth 5-0.

Andover’s golf team kept its playoff hopes alive by stunning Central Catholic 12 1/2-7 1/2. Medalist Brett Krekorian won at No. 1, shooting a 36 to defeat Central ace Tyler Nelson, while Nick Scarpa win his match with a 37.

Still unbeaten

North Andover’s volleyball team improved to 12-0 with a sweep of Lawrence. Sabrina Frahlic led the Knights, who have a showdown with Andover tomorrow, in service points (14) and digs (12).

Deadly duo

Andrew Lowman and David Carbonello continued to pile up the points for the Windham boys soccer team, combining for six in yesterday’s 6-1 victory over Pelham. Lowman had a hat trick while Carbonello had a goal and two assists. Lowman now has 19 goals and 14 assists for the Jaguars (11-1) while Carbonello has 15 and 11 respectively.

Impressive tuneup

Andover’s volleyball team won its 12th straight match, whipping Tewksbury in straight games as Azita Bakhtyari led the way in assists, service points (19) and digs. The Warriors host North Andover — the only team it has lost to — tomorrow.
