Windham’s Taylor made lasting impression

In her first and only season competing for Windham High School, senior Nicole Taylor wanted to make both a good first and last impression.

She did both.

Taylor, who spent two winters competing for Waterville Valley Academy and another skiing for a high school in Colorado, excelled competing for the Jaguars this year.

She won every regular season race and was the Division 2 state champion in both the slalom and giant slalom. She finished second at the Meet of Champions and was named to the New Hampshire team in the Eastern Regional championships.

A competitive skier at Mount Sunapee since she was 6, Taylor is at her best on fast courses. Already ranked nationally, she wants to ski in college and is looking at schools as far away as Colorado and Alaska.

“She’s just a phenomenal skier but she’s also just a great kid,” said Windham coach Kellie Steward. “She doesn’t have the big ego that you see with a lot of the great skiers.”
