Recent tourney history: Last title was in 1986 with Bruce Yennaco on the hill. Last trip to the title was in 1995 led by Jay Yennaco on the mound.
Who's hot: Senior Brandon Bell (3-4) has allowed four earned runs total in his last four starts.
Stat leaders: Zach Mathieu .392 avg., 16 RBIs; Steve Curry .354; Bryce Calvetti 2-4, 3.37 ERA
Did you know: The Astros are huge underdogs, but Ron Manseau's clubs are no stranger to the giant upset. Seeded 15th in 2006, the Astros KO'd No. 2 Salem and No. 7 Londonderry to reach the semis.
Prognosis: An opening date with Trinity righty Garrett Cole and his mid-80s heater is an awfully daunting task for a team carrying a .235 batting average.
Salem
(11-9, No. 8 seed in Class L)
Opener: Hosts No. 9 Timberlane, tomorrow, 4 p.m.
Recent tourney history: The 2003 state champ. Made finals for the fourth time in six years with the 2008 title loss to Goffstown.
Who's hot: Junior Darren Brown has allowed just seven hits and four earned runs in his last 15 innings, grabbing wins over Dover and Goffstown.
Stat leaders: Matt Gioia .320, 15 runs; Jordan Estevez .298, 13 runs; Josh Heil .290, 15 RBIs; Jake Lambert 4-2, 2.95 ERA, 40Ks in 38 ip; Nick Poore 3-3, 2.43 ERA
Did you know: Josh Heil, who played short and did not hit, and Jordan Estevez, who pinch-ran, are the only current Devils who played in last year's title loss to Goffstown.
Prognosis: Tradition in the playoffs has been almost as important as the clutch hit or defense. And Salem, which is 13-5 in the last six postseasons, has plenty of it.
The Devils will face a tough opener most likely against Timberlane ace P.J. Singster, but the reward is probably a date against Trinity, most likely avoiding Garrett Cole.
Sanborn

Opener: At No. 6 Hopkinton, tomorrow, 4 p.m.
Recent tourney history: Hasn't won a tourney game since 1997.
Who's hot: Leadoff man Logen Johnson has scored at least one run in 10 of the last 11 games, a total of 23 on the season.
Stat leaders: Connor Page .389, 18 runs, 16 RBIs; Logen Johnson .378 avg.; Robby Ficker .415, 11 RBIs; Tyler Johnson .366; Sean Dolan .359.
Did you know: After 10 straight losing seasons for the program, third-year coach Billy Chapman has piloted the Indians to two straight winning springs.
Prognosis: A first-round tourney win would be monstrous for the program, which is hungry for a breakthrough. Ficker will get the ball and need his best. Hopkinton took the regular-season meeting, 4-2.
Timberlane
(10-10, No. 9 seed in Class L)
Opener: At No. 8 Salem, tomorrow, 4 p.m.
Recent tourney history: Last tourney win for the program was the 1994 Class I quarterfinals.
Who's hot: Junior P.J. Singster (5-3) has allowed only two earned runs in his last 20 innings, earning wins over Spaulding and Memorial.
Stat leaders: Nick Mascioli .389 avg.; Matt Faia .304, 12 RBIs; Matt Sheehan .269 avg.; Cam Fagan .258, 10 runs; Matt Faia 4-2, 2.98 ERA

Prognosis: The 8-9 matchup is usually a coin-flip and this one is no different. Salem fought for the 5-1 decision in the regular season.
