LOWELL — Cory Murphy's power play goal with 1:12 left in overtime gave the Lowell Devils a 3-2 triumph over the Worcester Sharks last night at the Tsongas Center.
Murphy and David McIntyre led Lowell with a goal and assist each. Mike McKenna stopped 40 of 42 shots through overtime to gather his 23rd win of the season.
After the Sharks rallied from two goals down to force overtime, it was McIntyre drawing a penalty on a breakaway attempt to put the Devils on the man-advantage. Murphy needed only 18 seconds to knuckle a Ben Walter feed over the glove of Alex Stalock.
McIntyre put the Devils up 2-0 at 10:15 of the middle period with his second goal in as many games.
The Devils start the final weekend of the regular season by hosting Bridgeport Friday at 7 p.m.
