The 14U Bay State Brats are looking for a pitcher and a versatile infielder. Winter practices will begin Jan. 6. Interested candidates can contact Bo Durso at baystatebrats@aol.com or visit eteamz/baystatebrats.

The Northeast Hurricanes 10U and 12U softball teams each have two final roster spots available. If you are interested, contact deb@nehurricanes.net.

FOOTBALL

Timberlane High is celebrating Homecoming and senior night for the football, cheer, and band programs on Oct. 26. Festivities start at 6:30 p.m. at the football field. Timberlane football is looking for football alumni to line the field for the current players. Alumni should meet down by the field by 6:30 p.m. Fans and alumni are also requested to bring a non-perishable item for a food drive to benefit the Holy Angels food pantry.

Basketball

Haverhill Travel Basketball will hold tryouts for the upcoming winter season. Any Haverhill boys in grades 4-8 are welcome to try out free of charge. The times are: Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Consentino Middle School — grade 6 from 7-8:15 p.m. and grade 8 from 8:15-9:30 p.m; Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Pentucket Lake School -- grades 4-5 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. and grade 7 from 7:45-9 p.m. Finally, there will be an extra tryout for those who can’t make it on Tuesday or Wednesday. That will be Thursday, Oct. 25, at Consentino Middle School — grades 4-5-6 from 7 p.m.-8:15 p.m. and grades 7-8 from 8:15-9:30 p.m. If you have any questions about Haverhill Travel or tryouts, please email haverhillhoop@yahoo.com.

Methuen Youth Basketball will be once again hosting the12th Ken Waldie Tip Off Classic Nov. 11-17. There will be six divisions, 6th, 7th and 8th girls and boys. Each team is guaranteed four games. Cross Country

The Bradford Huskies middle school boys cross country team won a five -team meet at Bradley Palmer State Park. The meet was held at Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield and was 1.6 miles long., defeating Hamilton-Wenham, Masconomet, Triton and North Andover. Jacob Seavey led the way in fourth, running 9:34 for 1.6 miles, followed closely by Troy Sliney, Connor Alessi, Connor Wertz and Mark Hanedanian in 5-6-8-9-10. The Huskies girls team finished second to Hamilton-Wenham, led by Meaghan Woolbert in fifth (10:51), Madeline Kelleher in seventh and Amy Seavey in eighth.
