Sifferlen and Malden Catholic win third straight Super 8 title

North Andover resident Tyler Sifferlen and Malden Catholic are Super 8 champions ... again.

Sifferlen scored Malden Catholic’s first goal in the first period to tie the score 1-1 against Austin Prep. Malden Catholic went on to win 3-2 to earn its third straight state title.

Austin Prep’s Nolan Vesey of North Reading scored the game’s first goal just 14 seconds into the contest.

Sifferlen, a 6-foot, 175-pound left winger, has verbally committed to play at UMass Lowell. He’s slated to begin his collegiate career in either 2014 or 2015. Before Malden Catholic, Sifferlen skated on North Andover’s varsity team as an eighth grader.

Sifferlen scored 23 points (9 goals, 14 assists) in 24 games with MC last season, primarily skating as the left winger.

Austin Goldstein and Ara Nazarian also scored for Malden Catholic.
