Olympic pipe dream
A committee that was formed to put in a bid for Boston to host the 2024 Summer Olympics is either dreaming or high on an illegal substance.
It is estimated that hosting the Olympics would cost about 25 billion dollars, which is about 10 times the city’s operating budget for one year. It would involve building a massive stadium and other venues, near public transportation, with no real site in mind.
And wherever the competition sites were located, it would create a traffic nightmare.
This will never happen.
All-Star hoop game nixed
An All-Star high school basketball game scheduled for last Friday at New Hampshire Tech, called the “NH Chips All-Star Underclassmen Showcase” for boys and girls was abruptly called off when it was discovered that 48 underclassmen could lose their eligibility because of it.
Section 10 of the NHIAA bylaws, regarding eligibility, states, “The NHIAA does neither sanction nor endorse any All-Star team or competition (during the school year) in any sport at any level. A student athlete who is a member of an NHIAA school team may not participate in an All-Star game/event, in season or out, without losing eligibility in that sport for one full year (365 days).”
However, the Senior Showcase, featuring top seniors, was still played as scheduled Saturday.
