Buttrey pitches Lowell past Vermont

---- — Ty Buttrey threw 6.0 shutout innings and Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Mager each had two RBI games as the Lowell Spinners won 4-1 over Vermont at LeLacheur Park yesterday.

Buttrey allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out two. His ERA dropped to 3.86.

Tzu-Wei Lin extended his hitting streak to five games with a leadoff double in the first inning and later scored on a ground out.

Kendrick Perkins bashed a homer and drove in two runs.

The Spinners play again today when Sergio Gomez takes the mound at 7:05 p.m.

Portland tops NH

Portland Sea Dogs catcher Christian Vazquez — who is on the Boston Red Sox’ 40 man roster — had a huge night, going 4 for 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs to lift Portland 5-1 over New Hampshire.

Portland DH Michael Almanzar went 3 for 4 with a double, walk, RBI and two runs.

New Hampshire starter Marcus Walden had a strong outing, going 7.0 innings and allowing just two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one. His ERA dropped to 3.18.
