As we head for home in the “I Beat Burt” Contest in 2012 — only two weeks remaining — it appears several of our former winners are bringing their “A” game to the weekly pro football picks contest.
George Clark, of North Andover, won T-shirts in both Weeks 14 and 15, having already won once earlier this year. The Archibalds, Pete and Patricia, of East Hampstead, N.H. each won the past two weeks.
In Week 14, Eagle-Tribune executive sports editor Bill Burt correctly picked 10 of the 15 games, with only 19 entries (out of 322) picking more. All of the Week 14 winners were within 14 points (the Pats scored 42). The second tiebreaker (amount of correct selections) was needed.
In Week 15, in what was a difficult week for most, Burt struggled as well, getting eight of 15 games right. There were 74 entries that picked nine or more winners. All of the T-shirt winners were within one point of the Patriots point total of 34.
Here are the winners from the last two weeks:
Ron Rogers of Ledyard, Conn., Bill Gurczak of Newburyport, Ernest Fluet of Andover, Bill Collins of Lawrence, David Silva of Kingston, N.H., Pete Archibald of East Hampstead, N.H., George Clark of North Andover, Mike Dodier Jr. of Haverhill, Mike Towne of Derry, N.H., and Bob Casey of Fremont, N.H.
