Caveney drills 7 3-pointers to lift Andover

NORTH ANDOVER — Devon Caveney drilled seven 3-pointers in a 23-point game to power Andover to a 64-44 win over Salem in the Greater Lawrence Girls Basketball Christmas Tourney third-place game.

Andover got out to a 21-10 lead after one and started a new win streak after Central Catholic snapped its 42-game win streak on Saturday. Jessica Witten and Colleen Caveney added eight points each. Salem’s Emily Hickey starred with 18 points and four treys.

Astros’ 27-4 run

Pinkerton broke open a tight game with an eye-popping 27-4 third-quarter advantage and whipped Lowell, 69-46, in the fifth-place game.

Val Martin (13), Corina Moore (11) and Marissa Stacy (11) combined for 37 points for the winners.

Rangers romp past Lancers

It was all Methuen in a 62-24 win over Lawrence in the seventh-place game of the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney. Abby Galloway-Burke led all scorers with 18 points and Amanda Petrow added 14. Genesis Santana led the Lancers with seven points.
