Astros welcome back Pacunas

Welcome back, Kaylee

Junior Kaylee Pacunas, who last year competed on a club team, was the star as Pinkerton defeated Londonderry 134.1-125.3. She won the all-around at 34.85, edging out Astro sophomore Amanda Cioli, who had a 34.35.

Double Trouble

Jordon Johnson had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Jackson Morton tossed in 17 points as Sanborn tripped Mascenic 66-53.

Make My Day

Thomas Day had a natural hat trick in the third period and his freshman brother Nicholas also tallied as North Reading beat Pentucket-Georgetown 6-4. The Hornets had trailed 3-1 after two periods.

Bronze for Christopher

Kerry Christopher was the No. 3 overall skier on the day and she led Andover to a 91-44 win over Manchester Essex. Catie Wolstromer was the North Andover star in a 115-20 romp over Haverhill.

Z and Z duo

Jeremy Zannini won the 50 yard dash in a speedy 5.6 and impressive freshman Zac Krysinski won the hurdles in 7.0 to highlight Central Catholic’s 61-25 win over Chelmsford.

On the Marks

Allie Marks (dash), Melissa Mackey (hurdles), Maggie Carey (600) and Colleen Slein (shot) won with personal bests as Central Catholic rolled to a 67-19 win over Chelmsford.

Hammer Time

Jenna Smolag (300, relay) was a double winner and Carli Klimas ruled the mile with a fine 5:43.8 clocking as North Andover hammered Lowell 62-24.

State Best

Pinkerton’s Chris Poggi, Connor Kwiecien, Pat Chabot and Nate Rees won the 4x800 in a state-leading 8:20.3 at the Wildcat Relays. Sean Kopetz, Owen Clark, Ryan Lynch and Rees combined to win the distance medley.
