BASEBALL

Methuen Youth Baseball is registering players ages 7-18 on Jan. 23 at Fuddruckers from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This is also a fundraiser. Visit methuenyouthbaseball.com or call 978-416-7273 for more information.

The Haverhill Youth Baseball Clinic is March 2 at Trinity Stadium or the high school in case of inclement weather. It is for ages 5-13 from 9 a.m.-noon at a cost of $25. For more information, contact Tom O’Brien at tobrien@haverhill-ps.org or call 978-374-5732.

The Junior Pythons winter clinic has a Feb. 15 registration deadline. The clinics are Sundays from Feb. 24 to March 17 from 10 a.m.-noon at Pelham High. Costs range from $13 for one session to $40 for all four. For more information call Billy Beauchesne at 603-475-7532.

SOFTBALL

Merrimack Valley Vipers U16 & U18 teams both are looking to add a pitcher and an outfielder. Workouts are throughout the winter in Andover. For more information, contact Mike at mvviperssoftball@gmail.com.

BASKETBALL

Central Catholic girls freshman basketball lost 34-22 to Dracut yesterday. Sarah Myers led the Raiders with six points.

The New England Warriors AAU program has set its spring tryout dates for fifth and sixth grade boys and girls and seventh and eighth grade boys and girls. They will be held Feb. 9 and 10 and March 2 and 3. On each date, the 5th-6th girls will meet 5-6 p.m., the 5th-6th boys from 7-8 p.m., the 7th-8th grade girls from 6-7 p.m. and the 7th-8th grade boys from 8-9 p.m. There will be a team for each grade and tryouts are free. LACROSSE

Try lacrosse at a free clinic sponsored by North Andover Youth Lacrosse (NALAX), which will be holding the clinic for new players Jan. 27 in the North Andover High gym. The girls clinic will run from 5-6:30 p.m. while the boys clinic will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Basic stick handling, catching, and throwing will be taught. If you have a lacrosse stick, please bring it with you. If you don’t have one, there will be sticks there. Please email Cara Higgins at nalaxreg@nalax.net if interested.

Registration for the 2013 season of Methuen Youth Lacrosse is open. Last in-person registration will be Jan. 23 at the Marsh Grammar School (Pelham St., Methuen) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Additionally, registration and information can be found on our website www.methuenlax.com.
