---- — NORTH ANDOVER — Merrimack coughed up a 21-point second-half lead and fell to AIC in OT 78-74.
The visitors hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with four seconds left but the game was far from over. Kevin Regan fired the inbounds pass to Tyler Young, who called timeout with 1.7 seconds left and the ball near halfcourt. Then Regan found freshman Gelvis Solano, who swished a 30-footer at the buzzer to send the contest to overtime.
AIC (6-11, 3-10 NE-10), though, dominated the extra session to snap its six-game losing streak. Merrimack hurt itself by shooting just 7 for 19 from the line,
Mike Clifford (18 points, 10 boards), Solano (15 points) and Regan (11 points, 6 assists) led the Warriors, who fell to 7-11, 4-9 NE-10.
Merrimack, which has lost five of its last six games, hosts Pace Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The women’s game is at 5:30 p.m.
Miller stars in defeat
AIC topped the Merrimack women 67-64. Merrimack (11-6, 7-6 NE-10) had a chance to tie it but the Warriors had a 3-pointer blocked at the buzzer.
Kelly Schatzlein scored a team-high 16 points to go along with a game-high 15 rebounds and three blocks in the loss. Melissa Miller had a big game off the bench with 12 points and a career-high seven rebounds in 16 minutes. Jaclyn Lyons added 10 points.
AIC improved to 10-7, 7-6 NE-10.
