The Final Score

King for a day

Amari King led the Pathners with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists while Kate Brinter went 4 for 5 behind the arch to round out the offense in PMA’s 55-51 win over Minuteman.

Late rally keeps North Reading perfect

Traling by as many as 14 points in the second quarter, North Reading rallied all the way back, and with 14 seconds left in the game Dan Fitzgerald made a steal and Mike O’Brien sunk two free throws to allow the Hornets to stay unbeaten, downing Triton 46-44. Tommy Hogan put North Reading ahead to stay with a 3-pointer with a minute to play.

Huge night for Notre Dame girls

Senior Night was a special one for the Notre Dame High girls, who dispatched Rockport, 56-29. With her game-high 17 points, Yaniery Martinez broke the 700-point barrier, something no girl has done in program history. Jessica Brito raised her career block total to 136, higher than any boy or girl in school history. The Hurricanes now await tournament play, something that could hardly have been expected when floor leader Kiara Torres was injured earlier in the season.

Simpson steps into record book

Aliza Simpson tossed in 19 points and became the all-time assist leader in Londonderry High history with 11 more last night as the Lancers pummeled Dover, 72-39.

Team Cavallaro

Maria Cavallaro of North Andover nipped her twin sister Rachel to win the girls gradces 6-8 competition at the Bove Memorial ski race. Their younger brother Nolan won the boys grades 6-8 race.

Fab Frosh

The Andover girls freshmen made it 12-1 on the year with a 33-31 win over rival Central Catholic. Megan Stickney and Elizabeth Bernardino led the winners with 10 points apiece, while Grace Kelly, Briana Knight and Brianna Goguen (6 steals) anchored the defense. Meray Crespo had seven points to lead Central.
