Shriners teams set for hospital visit

MERIDEN, N.H. — The Shrine Football Teams went through their third day of practice at Kimball Union Academy yesterday in preparation for the 57th Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl next Saturday.

Both coaches were pleased with the progress and attitude they saw on the field.

The summer classic will be played in Windsor, Vt., with kickoff set for 2:30.

Both teams made roster changes just before the deadline on Friday evening.

Jordan "OG" O'Grady from Milton was forced to give up his place on the Vermont team because of an aggravated foot injury.

His place has been taken by Cameron Cummings from Spaulding High in Barre. On the other side, Kevin Brady from Inter-Lakes High was replaced for personal reasons by Max Fatello from Winnacunnet. Both replacements were in camp by yesterday afternoon.

The two teams will board buses this morning for the annual trip to the Shrine Hospital for Children in Springfield, Mass., where in the smile of a small child they will learn the real meaning of Shrine Football.

As former players have often said, "When you return to practice field, you know that you're playing for a very special cause."

The teams will be back on the field tomorrow for double sessions which will continue through Friday.

Tickets are now on sale from outlets throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. The cost is $8.00 in advance and $10.00 on game day. There is also reserved seating for $20.

For information regarding tickets, call the Shrine Football Office in Lebanon, N.H., at 603-448-1042.
