“The tapings went great,” said Taylor. “We had a record-breaking performance in the first episode, an 11-year-old threw the highest score in show history.”
Taylor also took a group of young stars from the Pilgrim Lanes Youth League to Nova Scotia for an international tournament.
Lester and Babe
Red Sox lefty Jon Lester earned some kudos for his performance this spring and has been honored with the opening day start in Yankee Stadium on Monday.
It will mark his third straight opening day start, making him the first Red Sox pitcher to start three consecutive season-opening games since Pedro Martinez from 1998-2004.
Lester will become the first Sox southpaw to make three straight opening day starts since Mel Parnell from 1952-54 and Babe Ruth from 1916-18.
Girls night out
With Opening Day coming Thursday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats unveiled a slate of activities that fans can enjoy at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Some new items are geared toward young girls: the “Princess Party” package along with “Fungo’s Birthday Bash” and the “Meet-A-Player” days.
While all parties include food, cupcakes, and ice cream, and on-field recognition for the birthday child, the Princess Party will provide the birthday girl and her guests with tutus and tiaras, and a special tea party with the Tooth Fairy. Also, the team will have a softball station during the season. It will be taught by Jenna Raizes, a member of the front office who played at the University of Memphis.
