Windham's Greenleaf commits to golf at BC

---- — WINDHAM – Anxiety and the college selection process have been eliminated from the equation for Windham High junior Connor Greenleaf.

Our 2012 Eagle-Tribune Golfer of the Year has committed to play golf and study at Boston College. At The Heights, he’ll join fellow Granite State standout Nick Pandelena, who is a freshman now for the Eagles.

“I’m just very happy about the whole situation,” said Greenleaf. “It’s excellent Division 1 golf in the ACC. And I happen to like the winter break for my game. I have friends going to play at schools like Duke and Wake Forest. I think it will be a great experience.”

BC offers the 2012 New Hampshire Division 2 champ an opportunity to stay near home, play top level golf and still be exposed to the big-time university experience.

“BC has it all,” said Greenleaf. “From before when I even started to consider golf in college, I pointed to BC. This has ended up working out very well.”

“I’ve been deemed admissible. Now I have to keep my GPA up and focus on school and golf. The pressure now is off a bit. Knowing where I’m going, knowing I have a place, I can play more for fun, not be worried at all about coaches and recruiting and all that.”

Currently, Greenleaf is hitting balls and preparing for the upcoming tournament season.

A trip to get some rounds in down in Florida could happen, but for now, he’s focused on the range.

“I’m hitting the ball well,” said Greenleaf. “I’m really excited about the year, and what is to come.”
