AMHERST — Warren Wilson, who saw limited action as a redshirt freshman at Boston College last fall, has transferred to UMass.
The wide receiver from Lawrence saw action in three games for the Eagles, including the Champs Sports Bowl, but didn't record any statistics. Wilson, who was recruited to BC by former coach Tom O'Brien, is a 6-1, 180-pound receiver. Injury problems slowed him down and he found himself behind some talented young receivers.
UMass has prospered with Division 1-A recruits. The sixth-ranked Minutemen went 10-3 last fall, losing in the 1-AA playoff quarterfinals.
Wilson, who starred at New Hampton Prep, and defensive lineman Corey Eason, one of BC's top recruits last year, have enrolled in class at UMass. Both will be eligible for the 2008 season.
In other recruiting news, Eagle-Tribune Defensive Player of the Year Josh Lane, a 6-2, 275-pounder from Pinkerton Academy, as previously announced will be headed to UNH. His former Astro teammate Bryan Farris, who prepped last year at Phillips Academy, is bound for Yale.
Londonderry's multi-talented 6-6, 220-pound Ryan Griffin has signed with Division 1-A UConn. Rugged Brooks 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive tackle Ryan Lahey of North Andover is heading to Dartmouth.
