Basketball

The Haverhill YMCA is registering boys and girls grades 1-8 for its fall/winter league, which begins Nov. 1. The fee is $60 for YMCA members and $90 for non-members and there is an Oct. 18 deadline. The Haverhill High School girl's coaching staff is offering a fall basketball clinic for middle school and high school girls and boys on Sunday evening's beginning October 19. The clinic will continue for five consecutive weeks at the Haverhill High School gym and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 16 The middle school session will be offered from 6-7:30 p.m. and the high school session will go from 7:30-9 p.m. The clinic will focus on individual and team development. Coaching vacancy

Hall of Fame

The Salem/Woodbury Hall of Fame will be inducting five new members on Friday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at Atkinson Country Club. Tickets are available for $35 at the athletic department.

The inductees are Andrew Lacroix (Class of 2003), Thomas Palance ('77), Kimmie Camuso Rose ('91), David Ruffen ('82) and Sen. John Sununu ('82).

The Greater Lawrence Tech Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the May 1, 2009 ceremony. Candidates must have graduated prior to 2004.

Skiing

The Bradford Ski Team (BST) is holding open registration for the 2008-2009 season. BST is an alpine race team and competes in the Eastern Mass. Buddy Werner League (EMBWL). The BST race program is open to children of all ages through high school age who can ski and no racing experience is necessary. Practices are held week nights at Ski Bradford.

The season starts at the sight of first snow fall in mid to late December, and racing runs January through March on Sunday mornings. Registration is open online through October 31. For more club information and to register, please go to www.bradfordskiteam.com.

Hockey

The North Andover Youth Hockey League (NAYHL) is holding open registration for the 2008-2009

Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey programs. Both programs are open for all boys and girls and run from early October to mid-March at Brooks School Skating Rink on 1160 Great Pond Road,

North Andover.

Football

Central Catholic's JV team beat Dracut 26-12. Scoring for Central were Ryan Sullivan, Drew Ouellette, Cal Beneze and Tom Lacroix.

The Lawrence freshman team beat Greater Lawrence 22-0. Mario Encarnacion, Luis Pezzotti and Jorby Vargas played well for Lawrence. Jyrome Gabin caught a 50-yard touchdown pass.

Wrestling

The Derry Boys' and Girls' Club's Rebels will be holding a parents' meeting, orientation and registration on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. at the club. All individuals from fourth grade through the eighth grade, interested in the sport of wrestling, along with their parents, are welcome to attend.
