Scott Ricketts scored 11 points to lead North Andover to a 42-41 win over Greater Lawrence, in opening night action of the Hoops for Hope playoffs. Donald Celestin had 23 points for Greater Lawrence.
In other action; Westford defeated Pelham, 70-46. Mark Cornelius had 22 to lead Westford and Stephen Spirou added 21 for the Pythons. Methuen edged Londonderry, 45-43 behind 12 points from Raudy Minaya. Mike Colby's 20 led Londonderry.
Acton-Boxboro topped Dracut, 43-23 with Wes Schroll leading AB with 12 while Brian Odiani's five points led Dracut.
Taylor Beaton scored 14 to lead Pentucket past Pinkerton, 56-34. Ryan Williams' 10 points led Pinkerton. Lowell buried Timberlane, 60-24 behind Donovan Bennett's 11 points. Ryan Bidgood (6 points) led Timberlane.

Lumb edges Max
Defending champion Chrissy Lumb defeated Karen Max on the 30th hole to win the Scottish Highlands women's flights.
The first women's flight went to the 19th hole with Deb Tsouprakakis defeating JoAnne Scanlon.
The men's championship will be Saturday. The men's second flight match went to Musty Nour, who defeated Peter Berry on the third hole of sudden victory.
Ace for Tibert
Methuen's Bill Tibert scored a hole-in-one on July 30. The ace occurred on hole 7, a par-3, 158-yard hole at White Mountain Country Club in Ashland, N.H.
Locals win soccer scholarships
Seacoast United awarded scholarships to Haverhill's Ryan McLeod (UMass Lowell); Derry's Aaron Earle (Valley Forge Christian); East Hampstead's Dennis Francoeur (Northeastern); Haverhill's Charlie Roche (UNH) and West Newbury's James Costello (UMass Lowell).
