(Continued)

On the girls side, Carmen Rivera finished first overall in 22:20 as the Reggies defeated runner-up Presentation of Mary by 13 points. Sydney Moran was in second for PMA while Danisa Medina and Suheiry Peirya came in 4-5 to seal the title.

“It was just a great day for the whole program,” said Santomassino.

Gilmore, Reddylead the locals

Team-wise it was not a good day for the locals at the Merrimack Valley Conference meet, but it was fine for several individuals.

Haverhill’s Riley Gilmore came in third in the girls meet with a 19:31, edging Andover’s Leila Aruri by one place and two seconds, while Methuen’s Jeff Reddy came in fifth in the boys meet.

Reddy (16:36) edged North Andover’s improving Marty Conrad by one second and Conrad teammate Zach Frahlich came in 14th as the Knights were fourth as a team, surprising fifth-place Methuen.
