Phillips stays unbeaten, rolls over Deerfield

Deerfield — Behind another outstanding day for quarterback Ian Maag, Phillips kept its undefeated record intact, blasting Deerfield 45-12 yesterday.

“Ian had terrific touch on the ball and made great decisions,” said head coach Leon Modeste.

“And the defense did what it’s done all year and stopped the ball and got it back to the offense,”

Maag, a postgrad, completed 11 of his 14 passes for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both to receiver Brandon Michel.

Michel caught six passes on the day, including the TDs of 17 and 37 yards, and also grabbed an interception that he returned 35 yards for a score.

Running back Ryder Stone continued to star, running for 106 yards and one touchdown and Mike Moore added 59 yards on five carries and two touchdowns.

The win makes the Big Blue 6-0 for the season, with a home matchup with Worcester Academy next Saturday.
