Whirlaway repeats with 5 Grand Prix titles

“I really wasn’t sure we could win again this with some of our injuries, but the guys came up big.,” said Kazanjian.

In the senior division, Plaistow’s Craig Fram finished third in 2:55:16 and Mike Cooney fourth in 2:55:42 along with Ephrain Ezekiel, 2:58 to win the senior title.

“What a year….to repeat winning 5 New England Grand Prix titles from last year…it doesn’t get any better than that,” said Kazanjian.

Whirlaway at a glance

Following are highlights from Whirlaway’s 2013 Grand Prix season.

Captured 5 titles for second straight year

The men’s masters team won the title for the 14th straight year

The men’s seniors team won its title for the fifth straight year

The women’s open team won for the second year in a row.

The women’s masters team won for the 11th time in 13 years and the seniors team won for the fourth straight year.

Christin Doneski won the individual New England masters title for the third year in a row, Maria Sevin was first in the seniors division for the second straight year and Karen Durante won the veterans crown for the third straight year.

Joe Navas captured the men’s overall masters title and Mike Cooney was first in the seniors division.
