Breylin Nichols

North Andover Junior

While the offense was flying high for North Andover in the first half yesterday, the Knights defense also played an important role in its 42-23 victory over Lynn English and Edwards led the way with 12 tackles, including two for a loss, and an interception. Lynn English had only 76 yards in the second half, 54 coming on one play.

Andover

Igniter

Oliver Eberth

Andover Sophomore

After watching host Peabody consume more than nine minutes on the game’s first possession while taking an early seven-point lead, Eberth provided the momentum-turning spark for the Warriors. He returned the ensuing kickoff 26 yards, setting up Andover at its own 47. Seconds later, the QB burst up the middle and went the 53 yards on Andover’s first play from scrimmage. He would later add a conversion pass to Jack Sylvester.

Unstoppable

Hornet

C.J. McCarthy

North Reading Senior

McCarthy had his second huge game in a row to lead the Hornets to 42 points against Amesbury. McCarthy rushed for 264 yards and five touchdowns. He got help from back Blake Tamlyn-Hayden, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown, and a strong effort from the offensive line in the Hornets’ first-ever win at Amesbury.

Dominant

Defense

Markus Edmunds

Central Catholic Junior

The Raiders simply squashed an Acton-Boxboro team averaging 28 points a game and the hard-hitting Marcus Edmunds helped lead the way. The junior linebacker had 12 tackles, including a sack, as the Central starters allowed just two first downs, at one point holding A-B to five straight three-and-outs. A-B passed the 50 just once and had three passes picked off.
