LYNN — The trip down to Manning Field was a bittersweet one for Georgetown High soccer fans.
For the boys, it was rewarding as they knocked off Hamilton-Wenham, 2-0, to claim the Division 4 North sectional title.
Ben Noelk scored in the first half, and Ben Deononcour netted some insurance in the second as the Royals controlled the play.
Gus Savage earned the shutout win in goal.
The 5th-seeded Royals dominated the North, outscoring their opposition, 15-2, in the four victories. Georgetown improves to an amazing 13-2-7 and plays the South champ, Cohasset, for the Division 4 Eastern Mass. title. That one will be at Veterans Stadium in Quincy, Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
Austin stops Royal girls
The news wasn’t so good for the Georgetown girls. The only goal they allowed in the postseason spelled doom for Georgetown yesterday in the girls Division 4 North title game as Austin Prep took the Royals out, 1-0.
The Georgetown girls finish at 11-7-4. Now 17-1-3, the Austin girls face Ursuline Academy for the Eastern Mass. title, Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Quincy.
