Allan throws no-hitter for Andover Legion

Scott Allan of North Reading tossed a no-hitter to lead Andover Legion 4-0 over Newburyport yesterday.

Allan retired 17 straight batters to start the game before an error broke up his perfect game attempt. He faced 22 batters over his seven innings, just one more than the minimum.

He also helped his own cause with two singles and an RBI.

Chris Nicholas added a single, double and two RBIs and Tim Awiszus belted an RBI triple.

Andover plays Middleton at Andover High on Wednesday.

Penney leads Haverhill

Evan Penney’s 6.0-strong innings on the mound led Haverhill Post 4 to a 8-4 win over Swampscott.

Penney recorded his second win of the season, and Kevin Regan closed out the game by pitching the final frame.

Regan and Steve Jaskelevicus each had two hits while Nate Frongillo and Kyle Plocharycz each drove in three runs for Haverhill (3-0).

Lawrence rallies back

Lawrence Legion beat North Andover 9-6 despite falling behind early 5-0.

Elvis Peralta stroked three hits and Wilmer Gomez hurled 4.0 solid innings of relief.

Lawrence plays again at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence High.

Kingston cruising

Steve Considine pitched four-scoreless, two-hit innings to earn his third victory of the season as the Kingston Night Owls rolled 10-0 over the North Shore Storm.

Dan Lagasse had two hits and two RBIs and also played strong outfield defense.

It was Kingston’s seventh straight victory.
