ANDOVER — Cedric Gillette, Andrew Salima and Jack Cox combined to pitch Andover Legion to an 11-3 win over Peabody. Gillette, the starter, got the win. He went 4.2 innings, limiting the visitors to two hits while fanning four. He gave up three runs, two earned. Salima fanned three in 1.1 shutout innings and Cox pitched a 1-2-3 ninth. Max Novick (3 for 3), Salima (3 for 4, 3 RBIs), Scott Leslie (2 hits, 3 RBIs) and Mike Calabro (2 hits, 2 RBIs) led the offense for Post 8, which improved to 4-1. Andover hosts Newburyport Thursday at 6 p.m.
Kuchar fires no-hitter
Newburyport Legion’s Ryan Kuchar, a recent Pentucket grad, fired a no-hitter, striking out nine without walking a batter in an 8-0 win over North Andover. Kuchar was one error away from a perfect game.
Georgetown’s Colby Ingraham was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI to lead Post 150 (9-2, 8-1 in District 8) and Pentucket’s Bob Barry was 2 for 4.
Cespedes lifts Lawrence
Lawrence Legion beat Saugus 16-3. Ignacious Cespedes pitch a strong five innings for the win. Jose Cendao and Jose Abrue chip in with home runs while Angel Abreu and Elvis Peralta had triples
Lawrence is at Swampscott Thursday.
Maldonado, Hillies roll
In Hoops for Hope action, Haverhill downed Pentucket 50-41. Alberto Maldonado led the Hillies with 14 points and Jeff Porter had 14 for the Sachems.
