Andover American defeated Lawrence East 5-3 in District 14 play to advance to tomorrow’s semifinals as the unbeaten No. 1 seed.
Amogh Prakash started and was the winning pitcher for Andover and he and reliever Jake Clinard both clouted home runs. Alex Weinreb and Jakoby Stanley also saw mound action and Patrick McConnell chipped in with two hits.
Andover American will host Andover National at 7:30 p.m. at Deyermond Field tomorrow.
Allan shines again
North Reading’s Scott Allan continued his fine summer for the Andover Legion Post 8 team, firing a two-hitter without giving up an earned run in a 6-2 victory over Methuen. Allan struck out five and threw 11 groundball outs.
Cam Farnham had two hits, including a two-run triple and scored twice while Max Novick and Scott Leslie also had two hits. Mike Calabro had a big two-RBI hit in the four-run fourth for Andover (8-2) and Jack Cox and Tim Awiszus shined defensively.
Andrew Wells went the distance for Methuen (8-5).
Pelham stays alive
Pelham’s 12-year-old team stayed alive in District 1 little League action with a 6-1 victory over Derry. Bobby Charette went four innings for the win, with relief help from J.J. Jepson and Tyler Pike, and also had a two-run single to help his cause.
Brett Sevigny added two hits and scored a run for Pelham and Ryan Miller had a hit, stole three bases and scored a run. Pelham is at Manchester East today.
NA America rolls
North Andover American scored all of its runs in the fourth inning in an 8-2 District 14 victory over Tewksbury American.
Kyle Moore had a grand slam and Luke St. Cyr and P.J. Fredo had back-to-back doubles. Nick Parisotto and Mike Gorgoni combined on a two-hitter, striking out seven.
American improved to 3-0 and will host a semifinal game tomorrow at 5:30.
