---- — The Kingston Night Owls continued to play well in North Shore League action, clipping the Newburyport Nationals 5-1.
Steve Considine, who entered the game with an ERA of 1.73 over 30 innings, went six scoreless innings to start the game while improving his record to 4-0 for the Night Owls (14-5), who have gotten strong pitching all year.
The offense was led by Chris Sartori (three hits), Mike DelPonte (triple ), Paul Trabucco (double ) and Eric Simm (two RBIs). Dan Lagasses stood out defensively in centerfield.
Lawrence Legion prevails
Lawrence Legion Post 15 defeated North Andover 6-4. Louis Rodriguez pitch five innings to get the win and helped out with key hits.
Pat Silk got the save with two scoreless innings of relief. David Quezada helped the cause with two key hits and some excellent defense.
Nor’Easters on roll
The Newburyport Nor’Easters American Legion team made it four in a row last night with a mercy-rule shortened 13-3 win against Peabody at Eiras Park.
“It was a great weekend,” said Nor’Easters coach Tim Southall, whose team is now 14-5-1. “I can’t say enough. (We beat) Haverhill 2-0 (Friday), Danvers 5-0 (Saturday), 3-2 win over Andover in eight innings (Sunday), and a nice walk-off win against Peabody today. So, the pitching staff has been rock solid. We’re back in first place.”
Georgetown’s Colby Ingraham and Pentucket’s Josh Creamer both had a pair of hits to help fuel the Newburyport offense.
Val Martin led the way with 15 points as up-and-coming Pinkerton ripped North Andover 64-29 in girls Hoops for Hope action last night. Meagan Collins led North Andover with 16 points.
