Kate on fire
Timberlane pitcher Kate Hoadley pitched her fourth straight shutout without giving up a walk, striking out 11, on a nifty one-hitter as the unbeaten Owls (8-0) blanked Winnacunnet 6-0. Leadoff hitter Christina Nye remained hot with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Sean Nickerson pumped in six goals and Shane Garon and Joe Greene added their first varsity goals as Methuen drubbed Malden 17-1.
Loss in 13th
Pinkerton battled perennial softball power Concord all the way before falling 8-4 in 13 innings. Rachel Byrd had three hits and two RBIs in a losing cause and Kelsey Weston smacked a home run. The two teams combined for 31 hits.
D’Andre cool in clutch
With the meet tied and only the discus left to go, football star D’Andre Drummond-Mayrie threw a personal record 145-6 to lead Central Catholic to a sweep in the event and give the Raiders a 77-68 win over Lowell.
Kendra Butner relieved in the top of the fifth to pick up the win and then capped off a 10-run bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer as North Reading (10-1) qualified for the tournament with a 13-9 victory over Rockport.
Hughes is huge
Timberlane took the lead with three runs in the sixth, and Jason Hughes made it stand up with 2 1/3 innings of hitless, shutout relief to give the Owls a 4-3 win over Winnacunnet.
Freshman Sarah Ratcliffe hit a solo homer, tripled, scored three times and drove home two more runs to lead Pelham to a 9-1 win over Bishop Brady. Hannah Paitchel added three hits and an RBI.
Erin Thompson had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and four RBIs and Sanborn scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Windham error with two outs in a 9-8 victory. Rachel Rogers hit a home run for the Jaguars.
Dan Spicer was 2 for 3 with a double, two stolen bases, three RBIs and three runs scored as Pelham whipped Bishop Brady 12-1.
Weezie nets 5
Weezie Gross scored five times and added two assists as Andover clipped Framingham 16-9 in girls lacrosse.
North Andover’s Hannah Rosenberger scored four goals as Brooks broke through with its first win of the season, 11-4 over Groton.
