Warriors lose after giving up late 10-point lead

JT Strickland netted 19 points but Merrimack men’s basketball lost 74-72 to LIU Post despite leading by 10 points with 5 minutes remaining.

The Warriors (2-3), who led 44-34 at halftime and 72-62 with 5:00 left, didn’t score during the final 5 minutes.

Two successful free throws by Tobin Carberry with 6 seconds left gave LIU Post a two-point edge.

Merrimack’s Kevin Regan then missed a 3-point jump shot with 2 seconds left. LIU Post grabbed the rebound and the victory.

Regan and Tyler Young each recorded 12 points for the Warriors while Mike Clifford added eight points and eight rebounds.

Merrimack outrebounded LIU Post 33-27. The Warriors shot 48.4 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from 3-point range.
